(Photo Caption) TAKING PART IN HISTORIC FLIGHT – Well, maybe it wasn’t history making but it’s soon to become history. The Ford Tri-Motor airplane, pictured above just before the first demonstration flight over the Twin Cities this morning, will soon become part of the aeronautical display at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D. C. The plane was in the Twin Cities as part of the Lewiston Summer Festival, continuing all this week.

The future status of the town-owned beach on Lower Range Pond, Poland, came to selectmen’s attention Tuesday. Currently, beach facilities are shared by the public and the Auburn YMCA, which leases the beach. Town Manager Richard Chick said that he is in the process of scheduling a meeting with the YMCA directors to meet with selectmen during September to discuss beach maintenance and operations. Selectmen have been considering how to tighten security at the beach, whether by issuing car stickers or other ways that would provide access only for town residents.
