Rumford class to hold luncheon

ANDOVER — The Stephens High School class of  1952 of Rumford will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at the Little Red Hen for the monthly luncheon. All class members and guests are welcome. Those attending should note the change of day.

Bowling league to open season

RUMFORD — The Pine Tree Bowling League teams will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1, at the Oxford Lanes to organize for the season. There will be a practice session.

New teams and new bowlers are welcome. The new season will start on Monday, Sept. 8. For more information, call 364-7800.

Christmas in July winners

PERU — Worthley Pond was ablaze with lights, the air filled with the sounds of laughter and the shores crowded with more people that it has seen for years to celebrate the annual Christmas in July.

Jim and Ann Denholm captained the water sleigh, which carried Contest Coordinator Kathy Barrett, Judge Peru Town Clerk Vera Parent, and Santa Claus.

After looking over the 100 entries, Parent named the winners, and prizes and awards were given to the following:

Camp competition: first, Steve Gallant; second, David and Lisa Ellis; third, John and Mary Williams; honorable mention, Ralph Hazelton , Phil and Kathy Buskey, Peter and Pat Brawn, Bill and Kathy Hussey and Waldron Camp.

Decorated boats: first, Arsenault/Bergeron entry; second, Ken Reno family; third, Pat and Roxanne Gorham; honorable mention, Bruce and Sharon Eastman.
