NORWAY — The First Unitarian Universalist Church on Main Street will hold its first service after the summer break, a Water Communion Service, at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 7.

Members are asked to bring in a sampling or two of places they went that had water they would like to share with their congregation.

The spirit behind the service is that members bring their water to the altar and co-mingle it with the waters of the congregation, symbolizing the coming together for another year.

For those who did not go somewhere with water, the church has “community water” that can symbolize something special to share on the first coming together after the summer break.

A religious education program is provided as well as childcare. A coffee hour will follow the service. Call 743-2828 for more information.

Clothing center to be open

HARTFORD — The Hartford Community Church Clothing Center will be open from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturdays, Sept. 6 and 20. The center is located opposite the church.
