FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Community College Network received a grant of $20,000 from the Adult Learner Partnership program of the Maine Community Foundation.

The one-year pilot program provides scholarship and grant support along with learning opportunities to organizations that help adult learners transition into two- and four-year degree-granting programs.

The grant will help the Franklin County Community College Network and its partners lower barriers for adults to pursue and complete degrees, said Betty Gensel, network liaison.

“We have seen an increase in the number of adults looking to transition to college, and these funds will help more people achieve their career goals through a degree program,” she said.

Adult Learner Partnership organizations receive up to $5,000 to support operation and growth of their program from the Maine Rural Education Fund and up to $15,000 in scholarship support from the Musgrave Scholarship Fund of the Maine Community Foundation for students in two- or four-year degree programs.

With offices in Ellsworth and Portland, the Maine Community Foundation works with donors and other partners to improve the quality of life for all Maine people. To learn more about the foundation, visit www.mainecf.org
