DEAR SUN SPOTS: On Sunday, Aug. 24, I was at Walmart in Auburn. When I returned to my car, I noticed a cart with a denim jacket in it. I decided to hold onto the jacket and write this letter to you to try and find its owner.
Also, I read in one of your letters about a lady looking for magazines for nursing homes. I have some to donate but could not find the name and number to reach her.
I am providing my email for these people to reach me. Thank you for all you do. — Charlotte, Auburn, [email protected]
ANSWER: You can reach V. in Auburn, who takes the magazines, at 207-784-3803.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: My wife and I read your column every day and enjoy it very much. It is very helpful to a lot of people.
Several weeks ago we had a yard sale at our home in Gray. A man came and purchased a small utility trailer I had and paid me for it and said he would return in the next few days to pick it up.
Since then we have not heard from him. He left no name or telephone number, and we do not know how to reach him. He did say he lives in the Norway or South Paris area.
Hoping he reads your column and will give us a call. We would like the man to have what he paid for. Thank you very much. — Joe, 207-310-1731
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m hoping you can locate a vendor who was at the Great Falls Balloon Festival. She was selling a cleaner for jewelry, glasses and much more. This worked beautifully on a ring she cleaned for me. Thanks for all you do. — R.A.C. via email
DEAR SUN SPOTS: You have helped so many of us in the past. I hope you can help me.
Recently I saw an article in the paper about the graduation class of St. Mary’s Nursing School Class of 1945.
I’m trying to contact Collette Sharron di Bello. I have something I would like to share with her.
Also, I am looking for a recipe for a whoopee pie cake. Hopefully someone will see this and respond. — M.J.B., Lewiston
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am an inmate at Androscoggin County Jail. I would like to write to my mother, but I don’t have her address. I do have her phone number. If you could maybe call her and tell her that her son is trying to get in touch with her. Please help a son to connect with his mother. — Lewiston Inmate
ANSWER: The inmate sent Sun Spots a long letter including his mother’s name and her phone number. However, Sun Spots cannot publish that kind of information without her permission.
She also does not act as a private go-between, no matter how worthy the cause.
If the inmate writes back with permission to use his name, Sun Spots can publish that, then his mother can choose whether or not to contact him.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have lots of pants for Mr. No Name, No Town (Aug. 21) in 38-inch waist, 29-inch inseam If you can put me in contact with him, I’ll gladly take some to him to look over and he can keep whatever he wants. I’d prefer not to be published in the column, just email me or have him contact me. Thanks. — No Name via email
ANSWER: Sun Spots is sorry, but she cannot act behind the scenes even for such a generous offer. Perhaps Mr. No Name will write in and provide his phone number.
TO THE MAN FROM AUBURN WHO ASKED ABOUT A CLOCK: Sun Spots would like to answer your question, but she cannot respond to anonymous queries. You will need to provide your name and town or phone number or email. She will be glad to withhold that information, but you must provide it to her.
This column is for you, our readers. It is for your questions and comments. There are only two rules: You must write to the column and sign your name (we won’t use it if you ask us not to). Please include your phone number. Letters will not be returned or answered by mail, and telephone calls will not be accepted. Your letters will appear as quickly as space allows. Address them to Sun Spots, P.O. Box 4400, Lewiston, ME 04243-4400. Inquiries can also be emailed to [email protected].
