NEW SHARON — A Chesterville man was injured Wednesday afternoon when the car he was driving went off Route 2 by Gage Corner, rolled over and ended up in a swamp, Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. said.

Eric Lowe, 52, was heading east toward downtown New Sharon and either passed out or had a medical emergency at about 3:32 p.m., Nichols said.

Lowe received head injuries and was taken by a NorthStar EMS ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, Nichols said.

Lowe was listed in good condition at the hospital on Thursday, FMH spokeswoman Jill Gray said.

Deputy Sandy Burke investigated the accident and was assisted at the scene by New Sharon fire and NorthStar personnel.

The 1999 Subaru Forester that Lowe was driving was heavily damaged.
