FARMINGTON — The Downeast Brass will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at Lincoln Auditorium at the University of Maine Farmington.

The special performance will benefit the Nordic lighting project at Titcomb Mountain.

The group has a wide range of musical styles. Its founder and arranger, Dwight Tibbetts, has kept the unique talents and skills of his colleagues in mind as he has arranged music specifically for the group.

From Andy Forster’s pristine high trumpet tones to Mark Mumme’s full bass sonority, The Downeast Brass combines the skills of some of Maine’s premier musicians. Because they are also music educators, they seek to reach audiences of all ages with original and entertaining programming.

They have performed on concert stages, at weddings, festivals and parades. Other venues include private parties at the governor’s mansion in Augusta, the Moxie Parade in Lisbon and Gov. John Baldacci’s inauguration ceremony, and the Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, N.H.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students. Children under 10 are admitted free. They are available at the door and at the Calico Patch in Farmington.

For more information, contact Dick Forster 491-8385 or 778-2621.

To make a donation to the lighting project, send a check payable to the Titcomb Ski Club Educational Foundation and to PO Box 43 Farmington, ME 04938.
