It does not surprise me that town officials in New Gloucester are doing their best to harass people who do not agree with the town’s “good ol’ boy” policy (Aug. 29).

They have taken a page from the liberal war book: if someone accuses you of some wrongdoing or of bad judgment, then accuse them of doing something worse.

The accusations against Frank Staton by Town Manager Paul First and Steve Libby, chairman of the board of selectmen, are hearsay. No charges have been filed, so where is their evidence? Answer: only in their minds.

By distracting the residents of New Gloucester with false accusations toward citizens, the ploy is to keep the public from finding out exactly what happened with missing employee files and the mistreatment of town employees. The former town manager, Sumner Field, plus First and Libby need to be investigated as to their involvement.

These are the same people who informed residents that they were not intelligent enough to draft a citizen recall ordinance.

Signs have gone up in my yard to recall Libby, Selectwoman Linda Chase and for the firing of First. I hope all freedom-loving people of New Gloucester do the same.

I would also like to know how the people of New Gloucester are going recoup the man hours that are being wasted on the delusions of those people.

And don’t worry, I will be expecting the code enforcement officer at my house any day now.
