This is in response to a Sun Journal story, “HIV/AIDS patients ‘angry,'” printed Sept. 2.
I sure hope someone takes Jim Pombriant to task for his description of food pantries as providing “40-year-old dented food cans and stale bread.” He does all food pantries a disservice, as well as sounding ignorant and hostile. From his position on the St. Mary’s board, he does the others a disservice, too.
I wonder how the nutritional needs of HIV-positive people differ from the nutritional needs of the poor, the unemployed, the working poor and the elderly on fixed incomes — all of whom visit our food pantry.
