The New Auburn Department Store, owned by Goddkowsky brothers, was entered sometime Friday night or Saturday morning and goods to the value of $200 were stolen. Entrance was made through a rear window, the burglar or burglars showing considerable knowledge of the interior arrangements of the store. The screen on the outside of the window was torn off and the sash raised. A hole was bored through the heavy wooden shutter on the inside of the window and then an iron bar was thrust through the hole and the crossbar which held the shutter in place was pried up.

Gates Formed-Fibre Products Inc. in Auburn Tuesday unveiled a multimillion-dollar manufacturing line using new concepts and state-of-the-art technology to improve the firm’s production of car trunk liners. “The real key to this is the size of the unit,” said Vice President of Engineering Ronald Adams. The machine can press 115-square-foot fiber sheets into molded designs to line new car trunks. The plant’s new system is believed to be the world’s largest fully automated continuous thermal forming line. The system works by heating and then cooling the multi-layered material once it is pressed into the proper shape. Car trunk liners are the company’s mainstay.
