A quarter of a million dollars — that is how much money Sen. John Cleveland has been paid by the town of Poland since 2006. In all that time, what does Poland have to show for it?

We now have an expensive $4 million water line, which some locals have come to call the “waterline to nowhere.” Cleveland oversaw this project and failed to find businesses willing to hook up. Now Poland taxpayers are paying for Auburn water that is sitting stagnant in the pipes.

While many are outraged about Cleveland’s recent over-billing of the town (charging Poland taxpayers $12,725 for a project he estimated at $6,900), this recent outrage is only the tip of the iceberg. For years, I think Cleveland has been over-billing Poland taxpayers for inadequate work.

Instead of a small refund for his recent over-billing, I would like to see Cleveland refund the quarter million dollars he has over-billed Poland since 2006.
