LISBON — Austin Fournier converted a pass from Nick Larette at the 26:31 mark in the first half to give Lisbon a 1-0 win over Winthrop in an MVC boys’ soccer matchup Friday.

Ryley Austin needed only two saves for the Greyhounds (3-0) to notch the shutout. Matt Sekerak turned aside nine shots between the posts for Winthrop (0-3).

Buckfield 2, Temple 1

WATERVILLE — Sidney Jackson scored a pair of goals in the second half to lift Buckfield to a 2-1 victory over Temple in boys’ soccer action Friday.

Temple scored early behind a goal from Patrick Blaisdell. But, Buckfield dominated on offense, outshooting their opponents 35-7 in the contest.

Goalie Garrett Smith made 20 saves for Temple, while goalie Calvin Downey stopped seven to earn the win in net for Buckfield.

Field hockey

Messalonskee 9, Lewiston 1

OAKLAND — Emily Hogan registered a hat trick Friday as Messalonskee outgunned Lewiston, 9-1, in a KVAC field hockey matchup.

Riley Field netted a pair of goals for the Eagles (4-0), while Lydia Dexter, Brooke Quirion, Ally Turner and Ally Corbett also tallied to complete the scoring. Kasey Talarico gave the Blue Devils (1-3) a goal in the first half.

Hannah Pinney and Chelsi French combined to record two saves for Messalonskee, while Kaylynn Labonte turned aside 19 shots between the posts for Lewiston.

Cony 4, Edward Little 2

AUGUSTA — Cony bounced back from a 2-1 deficit to pull off a 4-2 victory over Edward Little in another KVAC field hockey tilt Friday.

Erika Brochu scored twice in the second half for Cony (3-1) to lead the rally. Delaney Keithley and Cari Hopkins also tallied to complete the scoring. Brooke Lever scored both goals for Edward Little (2-2) in a solid first frame.

Madeline Lewis needed only two saves for the Rams, while Danica Nadeau deflected 26 shots for the Red Eddies.

Telstar 3, Dirigo 2 (OT)

BETHEL — Olivia York fired a shot into the net with 5:17 left in overtime to give Telstar a 3-2 homecoming game victory over Dirigo on Friday

Becca Howard gave the Rebels (3-1) a 1-0 lead in the first frame with an assist from Sadie Ellsworth. Natasha Hart also tallied to complete the scoring. Emma Lueders scored both goals for the Cougars (0-4-1).

Meg Glover made 11 saves for Telstar, while Morgan Morrow turned back 11 shots between the posts for Dirigo.

Leavitt 2, MCI 1

PITTSFIELD — A pair of first-half goals was adequate for Leavitt Friday, as they hung on to defeat MCI 2-1 in another early-season field hockey tilt.

Allie Belaire scored on a pass from Kaitlyn Leclerc at the 16:40 mark of the first frame. Belaire provided an assist for Sadie Royer’s goal to give the Hornets (3-1) a 2-0 advantage.

Kali Doiron kept the game interesting for MCI (2-2) with a goal at 21:25 in the second half.

Mt. Abram 3, Oak Hill 2

WALES — Lindsay Huff found the net with seven minutes left in regulation to give Mt. Abram a 3-2 victory over Oak Hill in an MVC girls’ soccer matchup Friday.

Emma Kearing led the Roadrunners (1-3) with a pair of first-half goals.

Bree Ivy scored twice for the Raiders (0-3) in a solid effort.

Abby Brackley made 10 saves for Mt. Abram, while Anna Dodge deflected 10 shots for Oak Hill.

Buckfield 7, Greater Portland Christian 0

BUCKFIELD — Naudia Wesley led a trio of scorers Friday as Buckfield raced away to a 7-0 romp over Greater Portland Christian in another local girls’ soccer matchup.

Wesley led the Bucks (2-0-1) with four goals and one assist, while Bri Damon chipped in with two goals. Mae Kolin also tallied to complete the scoring.

Olivia Dooley needed only four saves to record the shutout.
