AUBURN — School Committee meeting, 7 p.m., Auburn Hall. Agenda: Edward Little students participating in University of Maine SMART Institute; report on summer Jumpstart program at Washburn; vote on applying for the state to extend proficiency-based diploma to after 2018.

FRIDAY

LEWISTON — “How to Raise a Dangerous Criminal,” talk by federal prosecutor Margaret McGaughey during first Great Falls Forum of the season, noon to 1 p.m., Callahan Hall, Lewiston Public Library. McGaughey will share her conclusions regarding children’s upbringing and family factors that lead a productive citizen vs. a life of crime and dysfunction. Q & A follows her talk.

SATURDAY

AUBURN — The historic bells removed from New Auburn’s St. Louis Church will be on display for an hour beginning at 11 a.m. at Cote Crane Co., 2980 Hotel Road. The city is kicking of a fundraising effort to purchase the bells from the Maine Catholic Diocese, with a plan to create a permanent, public display.
