‘Famous’ chicken pie supper Saturday

BOLSTERS MILLS — A “famous” chicken pie supper will be held Saturday, Sept. 20, at Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church, Bolsters Mills Road. Seatings are at 5 and 6 p.m., with a third to follow as needed.

Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children under the age of 12.

Handicap accessible and air conditioned.

Supper includes chicken pie, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, rolls, homemade dessert and beverages.

Reservations will be accepted on Saturday between 9 a.m. and noon by confirmation at 583-9024. Do not leave a message.

Police officers at school carnival

FRYEBURG — Fryeburg Police Officers will participate in the C.A. Snow School PTO Carnival this Saturday, Sept. 20. Chief Joshua Potvin and other officers are scheduled to participate in the dunk tank at noon during the carnival to help raise money for the C.A. Snow School PTO.

Historical meeting on Ezra Stephens

HEBRON — Local historian Ben Conant will address the Hebron Historical Society on Tuesday, Sept. 23, on the life of Ezra Stephens, the 1800’s “P.T. Barnum of Maine.”

The 7 p.m. meeting will be at the Hebron Town Office, 351 Paris Road. The public is invited.

Annual fall yard sale in Albany

ALBANY — The Albany Improvement Association will hold its annual Fall Yard Sale on Saturday, Oct. 4, and Sunday, Oct, 5, starting at 9 a.m. at the corner of Vernon Street and Hunt’s Corner Road.

Proceeds will help pay for a well and indoor plumbing at the Albany Town House.

Mahoosuc series: glaciated landscapes

NORWAY — The Mahoosuc Land Trust will conclude its 2014 speaker series with a presentation on “The Changing Nature of Glaciated Landscapes,” a slide and discussion program by Bob Elliott about glacial features in the area, focused on the “Ancestral Androscoggin Esker.” The program is from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, in the McLaughlin Science Center Auditorium at Gould Academy.

Come a little early to look at topographic maps of the esker and related features.

PARIS — A Chinese auction to benefit Responsible Pet Care will be held Saturday, Sept. 27, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.

Bidding will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Winners will be drawn at 6:30.

Tickets are available in $5, $10 and $20 increments, as well as bonus tickets.

Community chorus singers wanted

NORWAY — Singers of all voices and experience are invited to join the fifteenth annual Christmastide community chorus at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at the Second Congregational Church, UCC, 205 Main St.

Under the direction of Shirli Allen Heald, singers will gather to review the sacred and secular Christmas music for the Dec. 6 and 7 Christmastide Concert. Rehearsals will be held every Sunday at 3 p.m.

Christmastide is an annual tradition at the Second Congregational Church, UCC. The chorus is made up of both church members and community members of all ages. The concert, a wonderful way to begin the holiday season, is free to the public. Last year the full house enjoyed both the secular and sacred music of Christmas.
