1929 – 2014

RUMFORD—Lula Manzer, 85, of Rumford, passed away peacefully at the Rumford Community Home with her loving family by her side.

Lula was born on Aug. 5, 1929, to Silas and Hazel (Toothaker) Blodgett Sr., one of 17 children.

She married her husband, Arthur Harry Manzer Sr., in 1953. Together, they shared 53 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 2004.

Lula or “Great Grammie” had a passion for cooking and shared her love through cooking and giving in general — not only her family, but even the residents of Dixfield Square Apartment complex, where she was a resident for many years.

Lula is survived by her daughter, Nancy Doughty and her husband, Bruce, of California; a son, Arthur “Rocky” Manzer Jr. and his wife, Cindy, of Peru; a daughter-in-law, Lucille Crawford of Dixfield; a sister, Rachel Hardy of Florida; seven grandchildren, Trisha Boucher and husband, Bob, Alison Penney and husband, Jeremy, Bruce Doughy Jr., Tessa Manzer, Katie and Patrick Houghton, Heather Manzer, and Arthur Manzer III; and eight great-grandchildren, Tyler, Amber, Dominic, Delia, Mariah, Wyatt, Brody, Griffin.

She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur; son, John Crawford; and a great-grandchild, Kya Marie, as well as 15 siblings.
