1925 – 2014

LEWISTON — Norman Richmond, 89, a resident of Lewiston, died Monday, Sept. 15, at Marshwood Nursing Home in Lewiston, with his family by his side.

He was born in the family home on Richmond Hill in Livermore on Jan. 30, 1925, and attended elementary school in North Vassalboro and Jonesboro. He graduated from Wilton Academy with the Class of 1942.

After serving in the U.S. Navy in World War II on a PT boat in the Philippines, he graduated from New England School of Refrigeration. He worked for Sampson’s Supermarkets and Hannaford Bros. for over 25 years, in charge of construction and maintenance.

He also taught refrigeration courses at CMVTI in Auburn. In 1947, he married Lois Walker and they had one daughter, Ellen.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Brown) Grenier, whom he married in 1984; his daughter, Ellen Richmond of Skowhegan; Susan Grenier of Auburn; Patti Gagne and her husband, Ernie, of Lewiston; and Mike Grenier and his wife, Sally, of Erie, Colo.; five grandchildren, Stephanie and Scott Gagne of Lewiston, Samantha Grenier of Colorado, and Ben and Dylan Mikolajczyk of Kansas.
