LEWISTON — Fifteen adults from Androscoggin County have been awarded scholarships to help pay tuition as they start college.
College for ME-Androscoggin announced the awards for students age 25 or older who live or work in Androscoggin County.
Awarded $1,000 through the Thomas W. Musgrave and Beulah Long Musgrave Fund Scholarship were:
* Tonya Bailey-Curry of Auburn who attends USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College;
* Joy Crockett of Auburn who attends the University of Maine at Augusta;
* Kara Getty of Leeds who attends Kaplan University;
* Pamela LaBelle of Lewiston who attends Central Maine Community College;
* Kayla Newmeyer of Lewiston who attends Kaplan University;
* Michael R. Roy of Lewiston who attends the University of Maine at Augusta;
* Danielle Wadsworth of Lewiston who attends the University of Maine at Augusta.
Awards from the First Class Scholarship and Cohort Program to pay tuition for the first classes enrolled in went to:
* Jacqueline Childs of Greene who attends Kaplan University;
* Dennis French of Auburn who attends Central Maine Community College;
* Trisha Hodgkins of Lewiston who attends USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College;
* Sherri Jewell of Livermore Falls who attends Central Maine Community College;
* Kristina Larracey of Mechanic Falls who attends USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College;
* Autumn Reynolds of Turner who attends Central Maine Community College;
* Steven Small of Lewiston who attends Central Maine Community College;
* Melissa Stevens of Auburn who attends USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College.
The funds for the First Class Scholarship and Cohort Program are provided by College for ME-Androscoggin.
Jan Phillips, executive director of College for ME-Androscoggin, said the recipients “have, and deserve, our community’s appreciation because they are often the students who use their degrees to better the lives of all who call Androscoggin County home.”
