This is in response to several letters published in the Sun Journal regarding my work as an economic development consultant to the town of Poland.

I have provided economic development services to the town of Poland for several years. I am proud of my work in Poland and of the many successful projects that were completed.

Mostly recently, I assisted the town with a tax increment financing task that was required by the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development so that an amendment to the town’s TIF can be completed that will provide for additional business development opportunities. The task proved to be far more time-consuming and challenging than was anticipated, requiring many hours to complete.

The work was completed and submitted to the town months ago. Despite working many more hours than anticipated, I substantially reduced my invoice to the town.

Over the years I have given the town more than $36,000 in discounts. I was pleased to receive the unanimous expression of appreciation and thanks from the board of selectmen for my consideration of the taxpayers and for my service to the community.

As a result of my work in Poland, several important infrastructure projects were completed, new businesses located in Poland, new economic development districts were formed, and I saved the taxpayers more than $1.5 million in costs by acquiring grants and low-interest financing for the projects.

My work clearly demonstrates that I have always done what was in the best interest of the people of Poland.
