World Day of Prayer for Peace
AUBURN — In connection with World Day of Prayer for Peace, there will be a service at High Street Congregational Church at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21.
This service will be open to all people, no matter their religious beliefs, and will be focused on prayer, music and opportunities for sharing and conversation.

Sermon: ‘When September Is Over’
PARIS — The First Universalist Church on Pine Street will welcome Renee Wales to the pulpit on Sunday, Sept. 21. The title of the 10 a.m. sermon is “Wake Me When September Is Over.”
Music is under the direction of Donna Hurd and Sunday School is under the direction of Renee Wales.
Coffee, conversation and fellowship will follow the worship service and all are welcome. The First Universalist Church is wheelchair accessible and childcare is available.
Family Hebrew School begins
AUBURN — Temple Shalom Synagogue will begin Family Hebrew School classes with the new Rabbi Sruli Desdner and Rabbetzin, Lisa Mayer.
Classes are offered for ages 3-12. Allyson Casares teaches the 3-6 year olds, Nancy Levinsky teaches the 7-9 year olds, Li’el Boudreau teaches the 10-12 year olds and Rabbi Sruli will be preparing students to become b’nai mitzvah.
Children will be learning Hebrew, holiday traditions and songs, prayers and rituals. Once a month the children will be asked to participate in Shabbat services and throughout the year there will be field trips to support their Jewish learning.
Family Hebrew School classes are on Sunday mornings from 10 to 11:15 a.m., followed by musical classes with Rabbi Sruli and Rabbetzin Lisa from 11:30 to noon.

Fundraiser for Pinpoint of Light
HARTFORD — A workshop, “Sensing the Aura by Way of Energy Fields and Velvet Hands” with Barbara Eckhardt, will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, at 1190 Main St. (Hartford Town Hall).
The event is a fundraiser for Pinpoint of Light Spiritualist Center.
The workshop will cover the aspects of the aura as it relates to health and disease, the energy emanating from the aura and the significance of the healer’s hands in a spiritual healing. Participants will have the opportunity to attune themselves for contact healing either as a sitter or as a healer.
Class time is two hours. Suggested donation is $15.
Make a day of it. A 10:30 a.m. devotional service will be followed by a potluck lunch.
