Spaghetti supper to benefit Gravel family

MECHANIC FALLS — A benefit spaghetti supper for Gary and Michelle (Ballard) Gravel will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at American Legion Post 150.

Gary has been in treatment for stage IV lymphoma and throat cancer and out of work for the last year.

Cost is $5 per adult and $3 for children 12 and under. Tickets will be sold at the door.

Meal includes bread, salad, spaghetti, meatballs, dessert and a drink.

Flagship Cinemas movie books will be on sale, offering $200 worth of savings for only $25.

Raffles and 50/50. Need not be present to win.

Auburn Art Club to begin season

AUBURN — The Auburn Art Club will begin its 134th season on Monday, Oct. 6. It is the oldest club in Auburn having been organized in 1880. The meeting will be held at the Park Avenue Methodist church at 2 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend.

The hostesses for this meeting will be Wilma Labrie, chairman, assisted by Kathy Cutter and Lucille Oldham. The officers for the coming two years are Stephanie Upton, president; Kathy Cutter, vice president; Benita Flynn, recording secretary; Jeanne Laliberte, corresponding secretary; Louise Reynolds, treasurer; and June Spear, publicist.

Stephanie Upton will not be able to attend this first meeting and Bonnie Ross has agreed to substitute as president.

Cooking classes offered at The Ark

LEWISTON — “Quick & Practical Cooking For Infants, Toddlers and Young Children” will be presented by Pam and Laura McKinley at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at The Ark, 791 Lisbon St.

Demonstrations of nutritious, quick and practical foods for babies and growing children will be given. Learn about essential and valuable information that will protect your family and their health.

A gluten-free cooking class, with Michael and Sonya Tardif, owners of Taste of Eden Vegan Cafe in Norway, will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14.

Coin & Stamp Show is Oct. 5

BRUNSWICK — Brunswick Coin & Stamp Club will hold its Fall Coin & Stamp Show from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, at Knights of Columbus Hall, 2 Columbus Drive.

There will be 25 dealers and 44 tables.

Bean supper at Masonic Lodge

DURHAM — The Masonic Lodge at 663 Royalsborough Road will host a bean supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11.

Knights of Columbus spaghetti dinner

AUBURN — The Andy Valley Knights of Columbus, Council 8742 will sponsor a spaghetti dinner on Sunday, Oct. 12, at Sacred Heart Church, corner of Minot and Western Avenue, following the 11 a.m. mass.

The purpose of the dinner is to raise money for the KOC 8742 Charity Fund. Price is $8 for adults (12 and over), $6 for children 6-11, no charge for children under 6. All are invited.

Tom Cremona, PGK, will be serving his famous sauce. Being a true Italian, Tom’s homemade sauce is an old family recipe which he has been perfecting for over 30 years, using the finest olive oil, garlic, onions and more, with meatballs simmered in sauce for over four hours, sweet Italian sausage and pork chops.

The menu is as follows: spaghetti cooked al dente with Tom’s homemade sauce, salad with a choice of dressing, garlic or Italian bread, dessert, water, coffee, tea or punch.

Tom has prepared this spaghetti dinner with Council 8742 several times over the last eight years. People who have experienced his delicious sauce rave about it.

Christian skate event on Oct. 12

TOPSHAM — Grace Community Chapel will host a Christian skate night from 5:45 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at Topsham Roller World, 20 Atwood Road.

The $5 cost includes skate rental. Inline skates are $2 extra. There is no entrance fee for those not skating.
