LEWISTON — U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud, the Democrat running in Maine’s governor’s race, is bringing two high-profile Republicans to the city’s Veterans Memorial Park on Monday, Oct. 6, as they endorse Michaud in his effort to unseat incumbent Republican Gov. Paul LePage.
Also running is independent Eliot Cutler, a Cape Elizabeth lawyer and businessman.
None of the three candidates in the race are veterans.
Former Republican Secretary of Veterans Affairs Anthony Principi and former Republican chairman of the U.S. House Veterans Affairs Committee Steve Buyer are expected to tout Michaud’s positive record on veterans’ issues and his commitment to bipartisan problem-solving.
In Lewiston, Michaud, Principi and Buyer will be joined by retired Brig. Gen. Don McCormack at a news conference on veterans’ issues during the 10:30 a.m. appearance at the Veterans Memorial Park, according to a news release from Michaud’s campaign.
They also will meet with leaders and workers at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery.
