SKOWHEGAN — A Skowhegan Area Middle School educator who lives in Farmington is Maine’s Teacher of the Year.

The Morning Sentinel reports that Special Education Teacher Jennifer Dorman received the Maine Department of Education award at a surprise ceremony at the school on Thursday.

Dorman, who teaches English and language arts, has taught at the school since 2009. Before teaching there, she worked for 13 years at MSAD 54 in Skowhegan, Norridgewock and Mercer.

Zachary Longyear, the principle of the middle school, said Dorman has an “aura of willingness, tirelessness and effortlessness with working with students and staff.”
