NORWAY — The Oxford County Democrats are headed into a busy month of October with events, candidate visits and campaign activities.

The first week of the month is focused at the Fryeburg Fair where the Democratic booth will be in full operation throughout the fair. It is in Expo 5, next to the pulling ring.

On Saturday, Oct. 4, the Democrats will have an excellent turnout of both state-level and local candidates for the Grand Parade, with Mike Michaud for Governor and Emily Cain for Congress expected to attend, with State Senate candidates John Patrick of Rumford and Rose Rogers-Wells of Brownfield, House candidates Rep. Helen Rankin of Hiram, Rep. Lisa Villa of Harrison, Callie Pecunies of Albany Township, Dennise Whitley of Norway and others attending.

Oct. 4 will also feature several events involving Mike Michaud, including ribbon-cutting events at the River Valley office at 1125 Route 2 in Rumford at 12:15, at the Bethel area office at 171 Main St. at 2:45 and concluding with a Meet the Candidates reception at Roosters Road House in Bethel with Mike Michaud, Sen. John Patrick, House candidate Callie Pecunies, County candidates Sheriff Wayne Gallant and Treasurer Roy Gedat.

On Wednesday, Oct. 15, there will be a chicken pie supper and Meet the Candidates event beginning at 5 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in South Paris, with columnist Bill Nemitz of the Portland Press Herald as the speaker. State Senate candidate Rose Rogers-Wells, House candidates Dennise Whitley of Norway, Bob Kirchherr of South Paris and James Bradley of Mechanic Falls will be featured, as well as county candidates including Sheriff Gallant, Treasurer Gedat and County Commissioner candidate Lee Holman.

The traditional Final Push Supper and Meet the Candidates will be held on Friday, Oct. 24, starting at 4:30, at the Rumford Eagles Hall with River Valley candidates Sen. John Patrick, House candidates Mackie Gill, Rep. Matt Peterson and Callie Pecunies, and county candidates Sheriff Gallant and Treasurer Gedat expected to be present. Mike Michaud has been invited. The second annual pie auction will be held.

Phone banking and canvassing is in full swing, with regular phoning after 4 on Mondays and Wednesdays in the South Paris office at 21 Market Square, Mondays and Thursdays at the Rumford Office and Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Bethel office. During the month additional times will be added.
