I totally disagree with Rich Lowry’s column, “The incredibly insipid war on women” (Sept. 29). The first half of the column is wasted on a couple of silly comments about individual women.

Voting records and speeches portray actions that contradict Lowry’s statements.

The Lilly Ledbetter Act (equal pay for equal work) passed in 2009. The vote went: Yes: 55 Democrats, 4 Republicans, 2 independents; no: 36 Republicans.

Planned Parenthood services have been de-funded in several states by Republicans. There are millions of women who depend on Planned Parenthood for health care. Planning is an essential part of parenthood.

Women have disproportionally been affected by the stringent voter ID laws needlessly forced upon citizens by Republicans.

Mike Michaud and Emily Cain treat citizens fairly, listen well, are knowledgeable, capable, experienced, would be inclusive and lead wisely.

I like Michaud and Cain for Maine.
