1917 – 2014

RAMONA, Calif. — Bernice Woodman, 97, a longtime resident of Zephyrhills, Fla., died Sunday, Oct. 5, in Ramona, Calif.

She was born on May 27, 1917, in Kingston, King’s County, Nova Scotia, a daughter of Alexander B. and Zella May (Foster) Alger. She was a graduate of Sommerville High School in Massachusetts and Burdett Business School in Boston, Mass.

On Sept. 20, 1937, she married William Lipsett in Sommerville, Mass. On May 29, 1958, she married Lloyd Woodman in Monmouth; he passed away in May 1983.

Bernice worked as a secretary for E.E. Taylor Corp. in Freeport and Augusta, retiring in 1981. She was also a housewife. She was a lifetime member of the Litchfield Grange and also a member of the Pythian Sisters in Watertown, Mass.

Bernice is survived by two sons, James Lipsett and Richard Lipsett of California; three stepchildren, Lorraine Kenney of Litchfield, Lowell Woodman of South Monmouth and Lowella MacDonald of Wales; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her sister, Eleanor Clinch, of Stoughton, Mass.
