1926 – 2014

DANIA BEACH, Fla.— Maxine E. (Nesbit) Talon, 88, of Dania Beach, Fla., died Wednesday, Oct. 15.

Born in Guilford on Jan. 20, 1926, a daughter of Alexander and Minnie (Lovell) Nesbit, she graduated with honors from Guilford High School in 1944 and from Fisher College in Boston in 1946.

She married Louis Talon on April 25, 1946, in Lewiston, and the couple resided at 87 Ste. Croix St., Lewiston, until 1988, when they converted their summer cottage in North Monmouth to a year-round residence.

She was employed at Hood Ice Cream, Auburn division, until 1958, when she joined the news staff at the Lewiston Sun Journal, working as a community news coordinator and social editor, until her retirement in January 1994.

Maxine and her husband were very active in the Cub Scout and Boy Scout programs for many years. They were active members of St. Patrick’s Church until moving to North Monmouth, becoming communicants at St. Francis Church in Winthrop. During retirement, she worked part-time for ComTel in Winthrop.

Survivors include two sons, Stephen and his wife, Mary Beth, of Dania Beach, Fla., and Kevin and his wife, Phyllis, of Bolivia, N.C.; four grandchildren, Julie Stacey of West Concord, Mass., Keith Talon of Dedham, Mass., Jennifer Meinke of Ray Township, Mich., and Todd Talon of North Monmouth; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Another son, five-year-old Kerry, died in December 1954.

She was predeceased by her dancing partner/husband, Louis, in 2004; a brother, Halton Nesbit; and her sister, Barbara Kronholm.
