1977 – 2014

SOUTH PORTLAND — Dawn B. (Hemond) Watts, 37, of South Portland left this world to be with her uncle, Dana, on Wednesday, Oct. 15.

She was born on May 12, 1977, in Lewiston, the daughter and “daddy’s little girl” of Rick and Deb Hemond. She grew up in Minot and attended local schools. She was a graduate of Edward Little High School, Class of 1995.

After high school, Dawn attended Mr. Bernard’s School of Hair Fashion and was an awesome cosmetologist for many years. She also was a waitress and took courses to be a bartender. After much schooling, she graduated from SMCC with honors and a degree in Radiography in 2007, currently working at Maine Medical Center in Portland. She was also a licensed Yoga instructor.

Dawn loved the outdoors and was very atheletic. She excelled at everything she tried. She was a skier, snowboarder and snowmobiler. Dawn was also an excellent swimmer, cyclist, paddle boarder and surfer. She even embraced the chance of surfing in Hawaii. She loved to knit, sew, cook and read. She was a beloved mother to her son, Jack.

Dawn is survived by her two-year-old son, Jack; her ex-husband, Mike Watts of Scarborough; her chocolate lab, Milo; her parents, Rick and Deb Hemond of Minot; her brother, Rob and his wife, Tammy Hemond, of Minot and their children, Danica, Bailee, Nathan, Libbie and Lynsey; as well as many, many friends and close family members.

She was predeceased by her paternal grandfather, Roland Hemond, maternal grandparents Don and Ernie Hotham; and most recently her uncle, Dana Hotham.
