1927 – 2014
LEWISTON — Roger A. Cote, 86, of 100 Campus Ave., Lewiston, formerly of 47 Winding Way, Lewiston, died Friday, Oct. 17, at the Marshwood Nursing Home in Lewiston where he had been a resident since this past April.
Born in Lewiston on Dec. 16, 1927, he was the son of Elisee and Alice (Veilleux) Cote.
Educated in local schools, he joined the U.S. Marine Corp in 1948. He stayed in the Marine Corps for twenty years, and was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars, earning two Purple Hearts.
In 1952, he married the former Gilberte Picard.
After retiring from the Corps, he worked as a truck driver for Vincent Fruit Company, and then in the maintenance department of St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
Besides his loving wife of Lewiston, survivors include a brother, Bertrand Cote and wife, Madeline, of Greene; two sisters, Lucile and husband, Leo Dick, of Auburn and Carmen Teixeira of Lisbon; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by five brothers, Raymond, Leo, Roland, William and Maurice.
The family would like to thank the staff of Marshwood Nursing Home for all the loving care they gave Roger during his final illness.
