LIVERMORE FALLS — A teacher was on her way to work at a Jay school Thursday morning when her car struck with a deer south of Chretien & Sons Greenhouses on Route 133 on Hinkley Hill, police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said.
A truck driver traveling north had to swerve to avoid hitting two more deer before he could stop to help Julie Imbruno, 39, of Winthrop, Steward said. Imbruno was not injured but was shaken up, he said.
The right front corner of the car struck the deer, which hit the passenger side windshield, shattered it and went over the roof, he said. The windshield stayed intact but some shards of glass hit the dashboard.
Steward said he had to shoot the small doe because it was bleeding and appeared to have internal injuries.
Steward cautions motorists to be careful because there have been several deer-vehicle accidents in that area.
Imbruno’s 2009 Nissan Sentra was towed from the scene.
