KINGFIELD — Police said a Phillips woman is charged with drunken driving and resisting arrest after failing to stop at a stop sign on Depot Street on Wednesday night.
Franklin County Deputy Andrew Morgan arrested Susan A. Sterling, 52, on a misdemeanor charge of operating under the influence and issued her a summons on a misdemeanor charge of refusing to submit to arrest, Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. said.
A conviction on either charge is punishable by up to 364 days in jail and a $2,000 fine.
When Morgan tried to arrest Sterling, she struggled and resisted, despite several warnings to stop, Nichols said. Both fell to the ground and she hit her face, Nichols said.
NorthStar EMS ambulance personnel checked Sterling at the scene. She was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington to have a blood alcohol test and then to the Franklin County jail, he said.
Sterling was released on $100 cash bail early Thursday morning. She is scheduled to appear in a Farmington court on Dec. 2.
