PORTLAND — A Maine television station canceled a debate in the race for the 2nd Congressional District seat after Democrat Emily Cain said she wouldn’t attend.
WMTW-TV had planned to host a debate between Cain and Republican Bruce Poliquin on Tuesday.
WMTW said Cain told the station Thursday she would skip the debate because independent Blaine Richardson wasn’t invited.
The station says Richardson didn’t meet its criteria for debates because he hasn’t raised enough money and is polling in the single digits, among other reasons.
