1930 – 2014

LEWISTON — Gracia E. Mercier, 84, a resident of Greene, died Saturday, Oct. 25, at d’Youville Pavilion.

Born in Lewiston on Jan. 13, 1930, she was a daughter of Emile and Marguerite Flynn Theriault. Educated in Auburn schools, she was married to Antonin “Tony” Mercier at St. Patrick’s Chapel on Aug. 3, 1957; Mr. Mercier passed away on Feb. 13, 2009.

She enjoyed family get-togethers, reading, boating and all outdoor activities — both work and play. A devout Catholic, Gracia attended the Paraclete prayer group at Holy Family Church for over 30 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Tanya Mercier, of Greene; five sons, Steve and wife, Diane, of Florida, Joseph of California, Mathew and wife, Christine, of Livermore Falls, Anthony of Lisbon Falls and Douglas and wife, Pamela, of Portland; two sisters, Irene Beaulieu of Greene and Margaret Wright of Durham; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Lorena Dubois, who passed away in 2011; four brothers and two sisters.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to the nursing staff at d’Youville Pavilion and Beacon Hospice for all the care they gave Gracia.
