As a Vietnam-era veteran, I know the commitment it takes to serve our country. Bettyann Sheets, candidate for House District 64, has that commitment. She graduated from the U.S. Military Academy and served as an Army helicopter pilot in Germany and Fort Drum, N.Y.
She shows the same dedication as an Auburn small business owner and will use those same skills in the Legislature to move Maine in a positive direction.
She demonstrated success with the Legislature by working on a bill, as a concerned citizen, which was signed into law in 2008 — the Kid Safe Products Act. One example: it is now illegal for mercury to be in children’s toys.
She is open-minded in listening to issues and will make helping working families, creating employment opportunities and improving education her priorities.
I will be voting for Bettyann Sheets on Nov. 4.
Andre Roussel, Auburn
