JAY — Several Veterans Day services are scheduled in Jay, Livermore, Livermore Falls and Fayette on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
Members of the George Bunten Post 10 American Legion in Livermore Falls, Frank L Mitchell Post 3335 VFW, and Lane-Dube Post 33 AmVets, both in Jay, and Auxiliaries “will gather to remember and honor all veterans past and present and the sacrifice they gave for all of us so we can enjoy the freedoms we all enjoy in this great nation,” veteran Don Simoneau of Fayette said.
Services scheduled are:
Livermore Falls: 8:45 a.m., Livermore Falls Memorial Bridge on Route 4 for prayer, wreath-laying and honor guard salute to acknowledge those who served or were lost at sea.
Livermore: 9:10 a.m., Brettuns Memorial on Route 4 for prayer, wreath-laying, honor guard salute.
Livermore Falls: 9:40 a.m., Union Park, intersection of Main, Church and Union streets for prayer, wreath-laying, honor guard salute.
Jay: 10 a.m., Jay War Memorial, Main Street (Route 4) in Chisholm Square for prayer, wreath-laying and honor guard salute.
Fayette: 10:20 a.m., Fayette Memorial at the Fayette Town Office, Route 17, for prayer, wreath-laying and honor guard salute.
There will also be a program at noon followed by a light luncheon at the VFW Post 3335, located at the intersection of Jewell Street and Route 133 in Jay.

- Veterans who turned out Monday to hold their flags high did so during brisk weather to honor men and women who are serving in the U.S. military around the world at the Jay War Memorial. Those attending Monday, from left, are Don Simoneau of Fayette and Reginald Tardif, Rene Couture, Les Gatchell and Ken Bouchard, all of Jay. Veterans have been meeting on Monday mornings at the Jay War Memorial for six years from May 1 to Veterans Day, Nov. 11. The last meeting this year will be Nov. 10. Veterans will hold services at several war memorials next Tuesday in Fayette, Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls.
