No. 3 Wells (7-2) at No. 2 Spruce Mountain (8-1)

Friday, 7 p.m.

It’s the fourth meeting between the two teams in just over 400 days. Wells won the 2013 regular-season clash before Spruce achieved revenge in the playoffs. The Phoenix won by a deceptive 27-6 margin in the most recent battle. The Warriors churned out yardage on the ground all evening but fell flat in the red zone. Spruce made those missed opportunities sting with four big-play touchdowns.

No. 5 Yarmouth (6-3) at No. 1 Leavitt (8-1)

Class C West semifinal

Friday, 7 p.m.

This hasn’t been an easy spot for the Hornets. The Clippers nearly were the kryptonite of Leavitt’s undefeated Class C championship season in 2013, leading 7-6 early in the fourth quarter before the Hornets escaped with a rain-soaked win. Leavitt jumped out early and held on for a 20-12 win in September. The Hornets; high-octane pass offense kicked into gear that night and hasn’t looked back.

No. 3 Oak Hill (8-1) at No. 2 Dirigo (7-1)

Class D West semifinal

Friday, 7 p.m.

Few teams know one another better than the Raiders and Cougars. They meet in the playoffs for the third consecutive year. Dirigo prevailed in the 2012 regional semi before Oak Hill gained revenge in the 2013 Western title game. Both games were played in Wales. So was the Cougars’ 14-6 win earlier this season. Special teams and defense dominated. Oak Hill TB Kyle Flaherty did not play.

No. 4 OOB (5-3) at No. 1 Lisbon (7-1)

Class D West semifinal

Saturday, 12:30 p.m.

Lisbon rolled during the season, but OOB reached the Greyhounds’ 30 on six different occasions before the defense came up with big plays. The ‘Hounds must contain QB Bryan Roberts, who has carried the ‘Gulls in big games all year. To spring the upset, OOB can’t allow Lisbon to control the clock with its prolific running game and set up Kyle Bourget for big gains through the air.
