AUBURN — Integrated Optimal Health’s Choice Center for Diabetes, located at 229 Center St., Auburn, has been accredited by the American Association of Diabetes Educators in recognition of demonstrating best practices and meeting national standards in diabetes self-management education.
The accreditation allows Choice Center for Diabetes to provide diabetes self-management training classes that are covered by insurance for the public. Classes are starting this month, with the first class for pre-diabetes and Type 2 diabetes on Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Auburn office.
Marie Veselsky, registered dietitian and board-certified advanced diabetes management educator, has partnered with Chris Irish, RN, BSN, CDE, exercise specialist; Elaine Blackwood, RN, BSN, BA, CDE; Dustin Forrest, BS, RN; as well as Dr. Trish Murray and Choice Center’s Reiki master teacher/practitioner and billing specialist Kathy Young, to develop an innovative, “back to the basics” diabetes program.
Choice Center for Diabetes Self-Management Training Center will work with doctors in the area to provide “choices” for their patients. The program will combine medical screening, interactive classroom instruction on all aspects of diabetes, including the latest in glucose monitoring, medications/insulin, eye and foot care, as well as preventing progression of the disease. In addition, there will classes available for the participant on cooking, exercise and stress reduction.
