Even though Halloween is past, there’s a hauntingly humorous experience still to be had when Orono High School Drama presents “Blithe Spirit” on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, November 20-22 at 7 p.m. in the Orono High School cafe. Admission is $3 for students and seniors, $5 for all others.
The comedy, by British playwright Noel Coward, features a novelist who, in search of material for his new book, enlists aid from the eccentric Madame Arcati. But Madame Arcati’s seance goes awry, and an unexpected ghost arrives in the novelist’s home. Chaos ensues, accompanied by Coward’s signature witty dialogue. Performing as earthly and unearthly characters in the OHS production are Elsa Joliffe Saunders, Emma Elz Hammond, Alexander Fergusson, Sam Sheppard, Melissa St. Peter, Erin Luthin, and Emily Noyes.
In keeping with the play’s British origin and ghostly theme, refreshments served at the performances will include teatime treats and a few tricks, as well. For more information about this play or Orono High School’s award-winning drama program, call 866-4916.
