CANTON — The Board of Selectmen on Thursday night reviewed the revised Fire Department ordinance and decided to present it to voters in February.
On Nov. 4, townspeople voted to elect a fire chief instead of having selectmen appoint one.
Chairman Donald Hutchins asked what would happen if the revised ordinance were rejected by the town.
Selectman Malcolm Ray said it’s a question for the Maine Municipal Association, which will be asked to review the ordinance.
A date to vote on the ordinance has not been set.

* Selectman Brian Keene said the former Public Works garage on Route 108 is ready for contractors to look at for renovations. He said the sand and salt shed, also on Route 108, needs a lock on the door, but residents will be able to get a small amount of sand for personal use behind the former garage.
* Hutchins complimented the office staff for their work on Election Day. He also told fire Chief Shane Gallant the department does a fine job.
* Gallant said the Festival of Wreaths, a fundraiser for the department held by its auxiliary, will take place Nov. 29 and 30, and Dec. 6 and 7. Wreaths can be viewed from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 22, 23, 29 and 30 at the fire station on Route 108.
The next selectmen meeting will be Wednesday, Nov. 26.
