1943 – 2014

SOUTH PARIS — Jacqueline “Jackie” Rae Cotton, 70, of Waterford, died peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, Oct. 17, at Market Square Health Care Center.

She was born in Westbrook on Oct. 31, 1943, a daughter of her father, Leo Cote, and mother and stepfather, Costella Bailey Bryant and Horace Bryant. She grew up in Windham and graduated from Windham High School in 1962.

On Oct. 25, 1963, she married Leonard “Joe” Cotton; they settled in the Oxford Hills area and had two daughters.

She was a president of The Future Homemakers of America. In 1963, she graduated from the Golden School of Beauty. Jackie was an avid baker and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was well known for her generous spirit, among other endearing qualities.

Jackie dedicated her life to helping people. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked as a CNA at Ledgeview Nursing Home and in 1988, established The Cotton Home, a group home in North Norway in 2000. Jackie worked at Country Village Assisted Living, until her retirement.

She leaves behind her husband of 50 years, Leonard “Joe” Cotton; daughters, Lisa Cotton Sander of Waterford and Jennifer Jack of Norway; mother, Costella Bryant, of Windham; brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Albina Bryant of Windham; sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Rick Poland of Casco; six grandchildren, JaLise, Victoria, Kasey, Fallon, Ian and Aksel; one great-grandson, Ridge; as well as nieces, nephews and friends.

Jackie was predeceased by her father, Leo Cote; stepfather, Horace Bryant; and brother, Raymond Cote.

She will be deeply missed by all.
