1925 – 2014
LEWISTON — Mary Virginia Adams Morin, 89, a resident of New Gloucester, died peacefully with her loving family by her side, on Saturday, Nov. 15.
She was born in Green Springs, Ohio, on Nov. 3, 1925, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Enid (Hackett) Adams. Mary grew up during the Depression, when her family traveled from state to state looking for work and eventually settled in Skowhegan.
As a young woman, she worked at TJ Murphy Furriers, until she married and left to start her family. Mary and her husband settled in Bowdoin, where they were raising their children. Upon the death of her husband, Mary moved her family to Sunday River to be closer to her family. This is where she raised and nurtured her children.
In later life, Mary returned to the workforce, where she worked for many years at Roberts Poultry Farm, as well as doing house work for area residents. She ended her working career at the White Mountain National Forestry Service as an office helper.
Upon retirement, she relocated to New Gloucester to be closer to her youngest daughter.
Mary was well-known for her beautiful needlework and knitting. She truly enjoyed her Wednesday morning craft meetings with her friends, as well as her visits to the Coffee House and time with her family.
Mary is survived by her six children, Nancy Huff and husband, Barry, Roland Morin and wife, Judy, Rita Laurinaitis and partner, Dennis Ames, George Morin, Jeannie Malkuch and husband, Dave, Peggy Plapis and husband, Bill; grandchildren, Laurie, Jodey, Anita, Michael, Betsy, Raymond, Kimberly, Brittany and Rebekah; seven great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
