Help me to understand.

On Monday, Nov. 10, my eyes were drawn to the Sun Journal’s front page headline, “Lewiston nearing deal to buy downtown canals.”

In the article, Peter Rubins, chairman of Grow L+A’s Androscoggin River Recreation Task Force, said he walked the canals during the summer with a consultant who saw potential — potential for turning the river frontage into a surf/kayak wave.

Rubins stated that the task force is asking for only a feasibility study for now, and estimated that study would cost between $50,000 and $200,000.

What? Does Lewiston have money for that sort of thing?

I agree with KC Geiger of Auburn, who wrote a letter (Nov. 16) titled “Develop what is already there.”
