I write to comment on Thomas Shields’ letter (Nov. 18), “Recommended improvements.”

Finally, I can agree with Shields regarding the future of the citizens of Maine and the country.

The Republicans have won the position of power with the recent election results. They have the opportunity and responsibility of undoing all the wrongs that the Democrats have imposed on the people for far too long.

I am further of the opinion that term limits for the governor’s office should be lifted. It may take more than two terms for Gov. LePage to lead Maine to utopia.

I hope that the tea party doesn’t impede the efforts of the new Congress to get America on the right track.

I was hoping that Shields’ detailed list of corrective action would provide more insight to corrective actions rather than blanket political statements.

I do disagree with his comments and suggestions regarding voter fraud. Much of what he suggests (which is part of the Republican platform) will make it more difficult for the disadvantaged to vote; it reeks of “Jim Crow” laws of the past.

I will be watching and looking forward to the Republican changes that will serve both the 99 percent, as well as the 1 percent.
