FARMINGTON — Police said a Peru man escaped injury when his truck crossed the centerline on Route 2 and struck another truck Thursday night.

Although no charges were brought in the accident, Bert Holmquist, 32, was taken into custody when authorities discovered there were four warrants for his arrest from Texas, Farmington police secretary Bonnie Pomeroy said.

Holmquist was driving a 2002 F-250 pickup truck north near Philbrick Street in Farmington Falls at approximately 8 p.m., when it crossed the centerline and struck a 2003 GMC 2500 truck driven by Todd Bickford, 36, of Farmington, in the front driver-side panel. Holmquist’s truck sideswiped the pickup, which went off the road and rolled over, Pomeroy said.

A passenger with Bickford, Erika Neidojadlo-Munn, 24, of Etna, received minor injuries and was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital by a NorthStar ambulance, she said. Bickford was not injured.

Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt.

The reason Holmquist crossed the centerline was not indicated in Sgt. Michael Adcock’s report, Pomeroy said.

Adcock arrested Holmquist and took him to the Franklin County Detention Center, she said. Three warrants were for charges of failure to appear in court and the fourth was on a controlled substance violation, she said.

Holmquist is expected to appear in court, where he will be given a chance to waive extradition to Texas, an officer at the detention center said Friday morning.

Members of Farmington Fire and Rescue responded to the accident.
