1922 – 2014
FARMINGTON — Phyllis E. Partridge, 92, of Wilton passed peacefully on Friday, Nov. 21, at Edgewood Rehabilitation & Living Center in Farmington.
She was born on Oct. 3, 1922, in Jay, the fourth of eight children to Leslie and Cora Adams. Phyllis attended East Wilton Grammar School and graduated from Wilton Academy in 1940.
After graduation she went to work in the Woolen Mill and married Vinton L. Partridge on Sept. 21, 1940. She also worked at Livermore Shoe Co., Farmington Shoe Co. and the Wilton Tannery.
Phyllis was a member of the Wilton Extension, Wilton Rebekah’s Lodge, Wilton United Methodist Church, and bowled with the Senior’s League for several years. She enjoyed much social time with friends and family at their camp in Rockwood on the West Outlet. She also enjoyed many activities, such as fishing, snowmobiling, ice skating, skiing, knitting, crocheting, sliding parties and camping. One group of her and Vint’s friends camped together each summer for 45 years.
Phyllis enjoyed her life with Vint during their 62 years of marriage, most of which they lived in the Brown neighborhood, now known as Orchard Drive. She had five children, of whom she was very proud.
She leaves three daughters, Eleanor Gilbert and companion, Jeff Nickerson, of Industry, Judith Plummer and companion, John Lien, of Florida and Anita McFarlane and husband, Jeff, of Industry; two sons, Vinton Partridge Jr. and wife, Toni, of South Carolina and Donald Partridge and wife Lucille of Wilton; seven grandchildren, Teresa, David, Michael, Jeremy, Christopher, Kelly and Julie; 12 great-grandchildren, Douglas, Kyle, Elijah, Erin, Justin, Owen, Tristin, Samuel, Isabella, Catherine, Eben and Tucker; two great-great-grandchildren, Kayla and Abby; her sister, Beverly McDaniel of Livermore; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband; a sister, Charlotte; five brothers; a son-in-law, Owen; a grandson-in-law, Zach; and a great-granddaughter, Melissa.
