WEST PARIS — The annual “Let Your Light Shine” celebration will be held at the West Paris Library at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12.

Once again, the community will be cheered through the long winter nights by the sparkling lights around the library building and the glowing red heart in the front window.

Following the illumination of the lights, the Agnes Gray Explorers will sing songs of the season, and Jim Burke and the ukulele players from the newly formed Oxford Hills Ukulele Group will play holiday favorites.

Refreshments will be served throughout the festivities.

Other attractions will include Elaine Emery’s exceptional Nutcracker collection, as well as Michael Everett’s art display: Images of the North Maine Woods.

The Friends of the West Paris Library, sponsors of this event, provide funding for special projects, community programs for adults and children, as well as fund raising for the library.

This year, the Friends plan to buy thermal shades for the original windows in the old “castle” portion of the library to help defray heating costs. Anyone willing to support the Friends in this project, may do so by participating in “Let Your Light Shine” with a donation in memory or honor of a family member or friend.

These names will be placed in a Let Your Light Shine Memorial Book at the library.

Donations may be dropped off at the library, or sent to: Friends of the West Paris Library, PO Box 307, West Paris , Maine 04289. Specify the name of the person to be honored or memorialized.
