1922 – 2014

AUBURN — Surrounded by his family, Lionel “Lee” Bertrand Landry, 92, of Lewiston, died peacefully at the Androscoggin Hospice House on Wednesday, Dec. 3.

He was born in Lewiston to Pierre Landry and Marie Lebel Landry, attended Holy Family School and graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of 1940. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, in which he served during World War II.

Lee was known as an expert auto mechanic and worked for many years at Jewett Ford and Auburn Motor Sales. Later in his career, he started his own business, Lee’s Auto Repair, gaining many loyal customers. He also taught automotive repair at Lewiston Adult Education for 20 years.

He was an avid gardener and every summer looked forward to his tomato crop ripening. He was known as an all-around fix-it expert and enjoyed tinkering in his basement workshop. When he visited his daughters, he took great pleasure in working on home improvement projects in their houses. There was no project too complicated for “Pep” to complete and his grandchildren invariably tagged along as his helpers.

Lee loved playing pool and cards with his friends, keeping up with current events and having spirited political discussions.
