ANDOVER — Three groups are holding craft fairs Saturday morning in an event dubbed Christmas in Snow Valley.

According to the group Fans of Andover Maine Facebook, the fairs are hosted by the Andover Fireman’s Association, the Andover Congregational Church and the Andover Town Hall.

Elaine Morton, who has been involved with the Andover Fireman’s Association for 28 years, said that a couple years ago a woman with the church couldn’t get a table at the association’s craft fair because there wasn’t enough room.

“That year, she set up her own craft fair and was able to fill her church to capacity, and ever since, we’ve had a few different craft fairs scheduled on the same day,” Morton said. “I think it’s a great thing. It’s a good way for the community to get together, and instead of people making several trips out from week to week, people can go to each craft fair on the same day.”

The association fair will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Andover Fire Station with 20 tables for vendors.

“Some people will be selling food, some are selling jewelry, and I understand that someone’s going to have some T-shirts coming in,” Morton said. “We have another lady that does a variety of different clothing such as mittens, hats and scarves.”

People will be treated to soup and sandwiches made by resident Fred Detheridge, and a visit from Santa Claus at 2 p.m.

“The craft fairs are closing at 2 p.m., but we’re staying open for an extra hour so the kids can have a chance to see Santa,” Morton said.

The church will host its fair from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. with crafts, raffles, baked goods, candy, coffee and homemade donuts. There will also be free face painting and hot chocolate. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m.

All funds raised will go toward the church’s outreach projects.

A third craft fair will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Town Hall.
