1933 – 2014
LIVERMORE FALLS —Jacqueline “Jackie” Deshaies passed away Wednesday, Dec. 17, at her home on Munsey Avenue.
She was born in Jay on Jan. 22, 1933, one of eight children of Joseph and Cora (Grenier) Dubrieul. She was a graduate of Livermore Falls High School. On June 6, 1954, at St. Rose of Lima, she married Bernard Deshaies.
Jackie’s life was spent in Livermore Falls, Wayne (her camp), Pompano Beach, Fla. (winter home) and finally back to Livermore Falls this past winter to be closer to her beloved family and friends. Jackie valued her family and friends more than anything else and always had a way of making them feel special. She had something nice to say about everyone and her fun, joyful spirit filled every room she stepped in.
Jackie is remembered fondly by her loved ones, including her husband, Bernard Deshaies, to whom she was married for 60 years; and her two children, Danny, who married Lori Carll, and Jill, who married Dave Lovewell. Jackie’s true legacy was that all of her son’s and daughter’s friends looked at Jackie as their second mom. There were many mornings when those second sons/daughters had spent a sleepover only to wake to Jackie cooking them a delicious breakfast.
Once Danny and Jill went to college, she actually found herself acting as a gracious host and mom to even more people, like the time the entire University of Maine at Presque Isle soccer team spent the night and Jackie fixed up an enormous spaghetti and meatballs dinner, as if the players and coaches were her very own children.
Jackie cherished her six grandchildren, Nicole, Megan, Josh, Jay, Melissa and Mathew; as well as her four great-grandchildren, Dawson, Bryce, Nate and Camryn. They all loved grams.
Jackie’s hobbies included bowling, shuffleboard and cards. She was a member and immediate past president of the GFWC Livermore Falls Women’s Club, a member of the ESO Reading Club, Livermore-Livermore Falls Historical Society and the social director of functions at her retirement home in Pompano Beach, Fla.
Due to her recent health issues, Jackie wanted to move back to Maine so she could be more around her family and friends whom she so loved. So it seemed fitting that it was her heart that took her life, but it was her heart that touched so many lives during her lifetime!
