CALAIS — The Maine State Police and the Calais Police Department are investigating a stabbing that took place Friday afternoon at a Chapel Street residence.
The victim, 56-year-old John Haskins of Calais, initially was taken to Calais Regional Hospital but was transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor on Friday night, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.
McCausland said Calais police were called to the Chapel Street home about 3:30 p.m. for a man with serious stab wounds.
There were two other adults in the home at the time. Both have been accounted for, McCausland said, and detectives say there is no threat to the public.
A team of detectives and troopers are at the residence gathering evidence and conducting interviews.
