1918 – 2014

SABATTUS — Lois Ellen Rancourt, 96, of Sabattus, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 21, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Sabattus on March 17, 1918, a daughter of the late Arlon and Amanda (Jordan) Prince. She grew up in the Sabattus area and attended local schools. She was a graduate of Sabattus High School, Class of 1935.

On June 5, 1946, she married George R. Rancourt Sr. at West Bowdoin Baptist Church in West Bowdoin, and they started a family.

In her earlier years, Lois worked as a weaver for various area mills, but cared mostly for the raising of her children and caretaking of the farm as a homemaker. She was a lifetime member of West Bowdoin Baptist Church.

Lois will always be remembered for being a very outgoing, kind and generous woman who loved to spend quality time with her family, spend time in her garden and listen to the birds sing. She also loved helping out and being around the people of her church.

She is survived by her children, Ed and his companion, Dee, of Florida, Bob and his wife, Edna, of Florida, Mary and her husband, Glen, of Sabattus, Peggy and her husband, Moe, of Lewiston and George and his wife, Charlotte, of Sabattus. She also leaves behind a brother, Arlon Prince, of Florida; as well as her grandchildren, Gene, Eddie, Faith, Mark, Becky, Julie, Glen Jr., Peter, Dottie, Tonia, Heidi, Erica and Percy; her great-grandchildren, Ariel, Ecko, Summer, Gene Jr., Rhiannon, Ryan, Shannon, Miles, Chad, Issac, Amy, Ronnie, David, Sam, Glen III, Breanne, Kaitlyn, Sarah, Camden, Peter Jr., Brianna, Dylan, Kolby, Kaleb, Cole, Joshua, Jadia, Kayla, Saddie, Abby and Brittany; and her great-great-grandchildren, Kylee, Mckenzie, Eden, Ryan, Blake, Evie, Jerzey, Ava and Sawyer.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, George R. Rancourt Sr., in 1995; her daughter, Dotty, in 1976; three brothers, Charles, Linwood and Albert; and two sisters, Margaret and Emma.
